Atencio -- Mr. Phillip B. Atencio, 91, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on September 11, 1998. Mr. Atencio was born on December 28, 1906 in Tucumcari, NM to Pedro and Merejilda Atencio. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Mae Atencio and his brother, Bennie Atencio. Mr. Atencio is survived by his brother, Joseph U. Atencio and wife, Delia of Roswell, NM; four sisters, Margaret Otero of Tucumcari, Caroline A. Romero of Albuquerque, Mary Esquibel and husband, Sosteno of Tucumcari and Theresa Baca of Amarillo, TX; many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Mr. Atencio was a member of the catholic church. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, 1000 Old Coors Dr., SW from 3:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 4:00. Final visitation will be Monday morning in the Holy Family Church, 564 Atrisco from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. with mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at 9:00, Father Jack, Celebrant. Interment will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ernest Atencio, Dru E. Jones, Christopher R. Jones, Earl Atencio, Louis Romero and Reynaldo J. Cordova. Balch -- Juliet Balch, 84, a 34 year resident of Albuquerque, Juliet, passed away with the family at her bedside. Born in Hawaii of missionary parents she lived in China from the age of 2 to 16 years. Returning to the states, she later met and married Lewis Balch in Washington State eventually settling in New Mexico. She was a devoted wife and mother until her death on September 11, 1998. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Lewis Balch; sons, John Balch and wife, Beth, Bill Balch and wife, Kathleen, Thomas Balch and wife, Julie, Russell Balch, and Richard Balch; daughters, Mary Smith and husband, Allen, and Ann Balch; nine grandchildren; sisters, Faith Olsen, Frances Riggs, and other family and friends. Memorial services will be held at Albuquerque Bible Church, 320 Montano NW on Monday, September 14, 1998, at 4:15 p.m. She is much loved and will be greatly missed by all. Canfield -- Paul Gregory Canfield, age 53, died September 2, 1998 in Santa Fe. Paul was a locally and nationally recognized artist, working in a variety of media, whose work is represented in numerous collections across the country. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 30 years, Karen of Santa Fe; his mother, Elizabeth Canfield of Albuquerque; his sister, Maria Daly Canfield and her husband, Gary Flores of Reno; brother-in-law, Keith Pautz; sister-in-law, Kathleen and children of Simi Valley, CA; parents-in-law, Vernon and Elizabeth Pautz of Northridge, CA; several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Interment was private. A gathering in celebration of Paul's life and work will be announced at a later date. As a living memorial to Paul's life and work as an artist, a scholarship will be established at the College of Santa Fe to help students of art. Chen -- Yu Fun Chen, 90, a resident of Albuquerque for 9 years, died Thursday, September 11, 1998. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Yao Han Chen Chen of Albuquerque; son, Kung Yao Chen and wife, Milan Lock of Brazil; daughters, Ruby Kung Yu Ju and husband, Frederick of Albuquerque and Rose Chen Chu and husband, David of Wheaton, IL; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Dike -- Bettie J. Dike, 80, a long-time resident of Los Alamos, New Mexico, passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 1998. Bettie was born in Mays Landing, New Jersey, on December 7, 1917, the daughter of Ira Tenbroeck Smith and Helen Burhens. Bettie was a member of the United Church in Los Alamos. She was a graduate of Rutgers University in New Jersey and worked as a secretary for the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory for several years. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Robert Spencer Dike, who passed away in 1996. Bettie is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Helen Dike of Highlands Rancho, CO, and Virginia Moore, her husband Christopher; and their daughter Darcie Nicole Moore, also of Highlands Ranch, CO. Bettie also leaves behind her half-sister, Barbara Irwin of Pittsboro, NC; a sister-in-law, Maggie Smith of Hicksville, NY; and her nieces and nephews, Kip Smith, Brian Smith, and Karen Highfield, all of New York. A Memorial service for Mrs. Dike will be held at the United Church in Los Alamos and will be announced at a later date. Fiebig -- Louise C. Fiebig, 88, an Albuquerque resident since 1945, died Friday, September 11, 1998. Mrs. Fiebig is survived by a sister, Gertrude Labhard, of California; very close friends Michael and Margie Martinez, Margaret Otero, all of Albuquerque and Margaret Martinez of Costa Rica. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Fiebig on August 17, 1998. Mrs. Fiebig was a member of Holy Ghost Church. She was retired from Albuquerque Public Schools where she worked in the cafeteria at Van Buren Middle School. Rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, September 13, 1998 at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel with Deacon Bob Contreras reciting. Garcia -- Mrs. Rose Garcia died on Friday at the age of 80. She was a member of the San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church. She is preceded in death by her husband George Garcia, two sons, Desiderio"Sonny" and Albert Garcia and a great grandson Christopher Garcia. She is survived by three daughters, Patsy Baca and husband, Rosendo, Joyce Garcia and Tina Garcia; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Garcia will be held on Tuesday at the San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Gomez -- Natividad M. Gomez, 91, a lifelong resident of Santa Fe, died September 10, 1998, in Albuquerque. She is survived by her daughter, Evangeline Lopez and son-in-law, Bonnie Lopez. Other survivors are a sister, Estefanita Martinez; granddaughters, Belinda Spangle and Yvonne Lopez; nice, Theresa Johnson; nephews, Pat Lopez and David Lopez; and two great-grandchildren. Hudson -- Christopher F. Hudson, formerly of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, August 26, 1998 in Provincetown, MA at the age of 43. He will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him. Chris was born November 13, 1954, in Quebec, Canada. He is survived by his family, Gail Browne and daughters, Katie and Jenny, of Provincetown, MA; his mother, Kathleen MacShane Hudson, of Albuquerque; his father and step-mother, Frank and Jane Hudson, of Ocala, FL; his sister and son-in-law, Anne and Dan Jessup, of Glendale, AZ; his brother, Brendan Hudson, of Mexico City, Mexico, his brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Melissa Hudson, of Roswell, NM; his nieces, Moira and Colleen Jessup, and Tara and Emily Hudson, his nephew, Devin Jessup, and numerous aunts and uncles. Huff -- Nellmarie B. Huff, 90, a resident of Rio Rancho for the past year and a half, coming to New Mexico from Boerne, Texas. Nellmarie was born July 16, 1908, the daughter of George W. and Anna K. Mader Breitenstein in Martins Ferry, Ohio. She had been a member of the Boerne Reading Club, Friends of the Library, Sons of Herman of Texas, the Boerne United Methodist Church, received the Citizen of the Year Award for Boerne, Texas. Nellmarie is survived by her husband, Arleigh Huff of Rio Rancho; two children, Charles Huff and wife, Mary of Los Alamos, NM, Nancy Jaqua and husband Ed, of Corrales, NM; four grandchildren, David Jaqua and Suzanne Jaqua of Albuquerque, John Huff of Jemez Springs, NM and Maria Huff of Berkley, CA. Maisel -- Edith Maisel passed away Friday, September 11, 1998 after a long and wonderful life. She was born in Albuquerque Feb. 11, 1916 to Cyma and Maurice Maisel. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Norman and Lindalee Maisel; grandchildren, Lee Maurice and wife, Maria, and Karen Maisel; her brother, S.L."Bud" Maisel and his wife, Jackie, sister-in-law, Jerry Maisel. Marquis -- Josephine Margaret Marquis Wilch passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 1998. She was born in Central City, Nebraska, on August 28, 1907, to Ethel and Pars Marquis. She moved to Denver, Colorado, when she was eighteen years old, where she married Lawrence Denning Wilch, who preceded her in death. She worked for the Air Force Finance Center in Denver for twenty years, retiring in 1969. Josephine lived a long and wonderful life and was loved by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughters, Marilynn Tabor, of Rio Rancho, NM, and Laurel Powell, of Corrales, NM; sister, Elaine Wheeler and husband, Howard, of Westlake Village, CA; granddaughters, Karen Axell and Paul Neigel, of Vancouver, WA, Karla Axell and husband, Chuck Blumenfeld, of Seattle, WA, and Jennifer Bernardi and husband, Randy Bernardi, of Oklahoma City, OK; grandsons, Rick Murray and wife, Lenna of Albuquerque, NM, Rob Murray of Corrales, and Kris Axell and wife, Cheryl, of Bellevue, WA; and great-grandchildren, Dustin, Michelle, Kevin, Jonathan, Tyson, Matthew, Jeffrey, Dalton, and Alisa, and many nieces and nephews. Josephine was an accomplished organist and pianist and performed in many clubs in Denver and the surrounding area. She moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, in 1981, and performed with the Palo Duro Senior Citizens Band. She lived at the Mountain View Manor Sheltered Care Home for the past two years and we thank them for all the loving care she received from everyone. Mcdonald -- Fred McDonald, age 66, passed away peacefully Friday at home in the company of his family after a long illness. His unconditional love, compassion, and gentleness will be carried on by the lives of everyone he touched. He is preceded in death by his son Leslie. He is survived by his wife Lilly of 44 years; five children, Debra LeMaster and her husband, Robert of Albuquerque, Stephen McDonald and his wife, Susie of Los Lunas, David McDonald and his wife, Shireen of Los Lunas, Susan Mendoza and her husband, Rafael of Stafford, VA, and Patricia McDonald of Albuquerque. Melfi -- Andrew Melfi, 70, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 1998. He was born in New York where he spent his childhood years. He was always ready to contribute his share of the work to the family's business. Moving with his family to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida he graduated from high school and entered the Army. Upon completion of his service years he returned to Ft. Lauderdale where he met his wife Jaye. He and his family were residents of the Ft. Lauderdale and the Miami area for 40 years. He has been a resident of Albuquerque for the past ten years. He will be dearly missed by his family and his friends. Andy will be remembered for his generous nature, his good sense of humor, and for his willingness to share his time and ideas with others. He is survived by his wife, Jaye; his daughters, Diana Bonilla and Beverly Melfi; and his two grandchildren, Carlos and Alexandra, all residents of Albuquerque. He is also survived by his brother Robert Melfi and his sister Joy Peeler, both of Florida. Raymond -- Frank M. Raymond, 58, a resident of Albuquerque from 1966 to 1991 died, Monday, September 7, 1998. He is survived by his daughter, Rhonda Kay Raymond of Austin, TX; brother, Ole J. Salisbury -- Kenneth J. Salisbury, 76, a resident of Bernalillo died, Thursday, September 10, 1998. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Wilma; daughter, Carol Salisbury and her husband, Val Marmash; sons, Kenneth D. Salisbury and his wife, Cindie, all of Rio Rancho; and Michael D. Salisbury and his wife, Revonda of Baltimore, MD; grandchildren, Eve, Mary, Kenny, Christy and Chuck; great-grandchildren, Christina and Lexi; brother, Daryl"Bud" Salisbury and his wife, Florence of Cortland, IL; and many nieces, nephews and honorary kids. Kenneth had a 30 year career in the US Navy, was a veteran of WWII, former Undersheriff in Sandoval County and a founding member of the Sandoval County Sheriffs Posse. Kenneth was a loving husband, an exceptional parent, and a wonderful son-in-law, grandfather, father-in-law and surrogate father to many people. Sandoval -- George Natividad Sandoval, 84, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque passed away, Thursday, September 10, 1998. He was born in Alameda to Alfredo and Isabel Sandoval. He was raised by his loving grandparents, Francisco and Lucia Lucero Y Montoya. He was a veteran of World War II where he served in Europe in the Army. He was a self-employed Painting Contractor for many years and then retired from the old Batann Hospital as a painter. He is survived by his loving wife, Frances Sandoval of Albuquerque; step-daughter, Janice Biro and husband, Mickey of Chicago, IL; sister, Jessie Nuanes of Albuquerque; nephew, Henry Nuanes and wife, Ginger of Albuquerque; and many other nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Agnes; brothers, Joseph and Charlie; and sisters, Stella and Lucia. Swensen -- Raymond W. Swensen, 74, a native of Albuquerque, died Thursday, September 10, 1998, after a year long battle with pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Josephine Swensen of Albuquerque; brother, Francis Swensen of Bosque Farms; sister-in-law, Dana Swensen of Albuquerque; niece, Barbara Myers and husband, Harold of Albuquerque; grandniece, Jennifer Yardman and her children, Stephanie and Daniel, all of Las Vegas; and grandnephew, Joel Bretz of Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; brother, Edward; and son, David Jay. Mr. Swensen was a 1943 graduate of Albuquerque High School. He served in the US Army Air Corp, 467th Bomb Group of the 8th Air Force and flew 36 missions. Mr. Swensen retired after 20 years of service with the General Electric Corporation. He was a life member of the Elks Club, Lodge #461. Mr. Swensen was also a member of I.B.E.W., Union #611, and I.A.M. Cremation has taken place and no services will be scheduled. Vigil -- Amado Vigil, 74, a resident of Albuquerque for 45 years, died Friday, September 11, 1998. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Gloria Vigil of the family home; daughters, Lucille Vigil and husband, Modesto Lucero, Jeanette Reece and husband, Linn, and Glenda Vigil; son, Donny Vigil and wife, Debbie, all of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Jerome, Jared, Blake, and Brett; Amanda, Nancy, Jocelyn, Rebekah, and Julian; sisters, Ramona Dimas and husband, Sam of Flagstaff, AZ, Rose Tapia and husband, Ralph, deceased, Mary Bartolotta and husband, John, and Celia Boyd and husband, John, all of Albuquerque; and a host of many other loving family members. Mr. Vigil served in the US Navy during WWII, where he received the Victory Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Star, and the Philipine Liberation Medal. He was an active member of American Legion Post #69.
